July Mentoring Day

by Neil Jameson -

Our next mentoring session will be on Wednesday 9th July, 10am -3pm time slot at the Nower Wood Centre, bring lunch if staying all day and we’ll supply tea etc.

This a great opportunity for a quick chat to go through your coursework (either Forest School or Leader of outdoor learning) and get your questions answered with a tutor on hand or simply spend the morning/day to sit in a room away from other distractions to get on with your work.

Not compulsory and if you can't make it but would like to talk to a tutor, we are more than happy to have zoom/teams meeting online or telephone chat when it's convenient for you (including evenings). Do email me to arrange one.

Nower Centre can be found at Mill Way, Leatherhead KT22 8QA.

Hopefully see you there!

Forest School Training Update

by Neil Jameson -

Surrey Wildlife Trust has delivered Forest School training in the county for over a decade, training and supporting hundreds of Forest School Practitioners in Surrey.  Now that it is firmly established in the county, and with many other organisations offering this training, we have taken the decision to move our focus elsewhere.  With the urgent need to restore nature by 2030, a core mission of the Wildlife Trusts as a whole (Strategy 2030 | The Wildlife Trusts), we will be focusing our resources on supporting schools and communities to make positive changes for nature.  We will continue to run our Wilder Schools programme in schools, provide a CPD training programme for educators, and offer activities for schools at our educational nature reserve.

Students currently enrolled on courses that have already commenced will not be affected by this decision.

There are two main local support networks for Forest School folk in Surrey and they are:

There are many alternative training providers that you may wish to contact to enquire about future course dates, including:
